Stella: Lowkey staying cool

🙋🏻This is Stella, she was born into a Chinese restaurant household and taught at a young age to help and work to alleviate her parents’ work and “suffering”, like many of the Chinese kids in the Netherlands.

🍀Unlike most of her Dutch-Chinese peers, however, Stella loves #lowkey. She’d rather Reddit than Instagram, rather read than drink, rather questions her parents about the political unrest in Hong Kong than answering their question “have you eaten already” and rather spend money on environmentally conscious soaps than on the latest Louis Vuitton.

💯She oversees the restaurant, manages employees (who are her age), goes to college, handles Chinese parents in a Western environment (aka functions as their administrative assistant) and loves green tea flavour, even when it comes to potato chips. She doesn’t throw tantrums (although we wouldn’t mind if she would), plays it cool and talks solutions rather problems. She does not fret over what will come tomorrow, because that will come tomorrow.
